Zoo Trip!

A few weeks ago students in grades 1-4 went to the Toronto Zoo to wrap up their Creation Studies units. The weather forecast called for rain, but it turned out to be a pretty nice day with only a few sprinkles here and there. We all had a blast at the zoo!!
Here are some pictures of the grade one and two students.

Waiting patiently for the bus to arrive.

MCS students love to go on bus rides!!!

Getting excited for the zoo

These boys are having a great time!

Big smiles!

Getting to see ocean animals up close.

Everyone had a great time at the zoo. It was a great way to reinforce all that we had learned about the ocean and to see some other animals too. Thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped to make the trip a great success.

Blessings,
Mrs. Bouwers

Where are we in God's World?

We just started a  new Creation Studies unit in grade one and two. We are looking at maps and how they can show us where God has placed us in His world. Today the students worked in partners to design their own maps.

We are thankful for...

Visit to the Apple Orchard!

The Kindergarten and preschool classes had a great time visiting Frootogo Orchard last week. The children took a wagon ride to the apple trees and were able to pick two apples each to take home. They also enjoyed a puppet show, a visit with the farm animals, a yummy snack, and some time in the large play area. What a wonderful way to spend a fall morning!

Our Sponsor Child- Richelandie Bris‏

This is a picture of our sponsor child. Her name is Richelandie Bris and she lives in Haiti. Today, October 4th, is the first day of school for children in Haiti. Richelandie attends the Bonnette school which suffered some cracks from last year's earthquake but is otherwise safe. Other schools in the area were not as lucky and still require repairs.
Richelandie is holding a picture of the folder that we sent to her, she really enjoyed looking at all of the MCS students and learning about our school.

Last year the staff and students raised enough funds to send Richelandie to school. This year we hope to do the same. We will have another collection for Richelandie at our annual Christmas pageant which will be held on December 14th. We need to raise $385 for her to go to school in 2011.
We also continue to pray for Richelandie and the rest of Haiti, and encourage you to do the same.
In His name,
MCS Staff

The Science of Flight: Grade Five and Six

In the past few weeks, grade five and six has been busy with our science unit on flight.  Below are some pictures of the class discovering the four principles of flight through scientific experiments.  The class had an amazing time learning, laughing and being in awe of God's great creation!
